Islamabad (Commerce Desk) – Supply of diesel and jet fuel from Kuwait to Pakistan via cargo ships has been restored, ensuring availability of jet fuel for airlines and preventing passengers from paying additional airfare.
Sources report that Iran has provided a safe passage for Pakistani oil cargo, with a limited number of shipments already delivered. Gradually, around twenty tankers are expected to arrive, with one to two tankers arriving daily from Kuwait.
The existing 50-year supply agreement with Kuwait remains active, although no new agreement has been signed. Pakistan has also been receiving three to five cargo shipments monthly from Saudi Arabia and two to four from the UAE.
The restoration of supply is expected to ease shortages in electricity, diesel, and transport sectors, ensuring public needs are met. With necessary reforms in the energy and aviation sectors, fuel prices are also likely to remain stable.
