Delcy Rodriguez Sworn in as Venezuela’s Interim President

Caracas (Monitoring Desk): Venezuelan Vice President and Minister of Oil, Delcy Rodriguez, has been officially sworn in as the country’s interim president.

This development comes as former President Nicolás Maduro appeared in a New York court on drug-related charges. Maduro was removed from power over the weekend during a U.S. military operation and transferred to the United States.

The 56-year-old Delcy Rodriguez took the oath from her brother, Jorge Rodriguez, the Speaker of Venezuela’s National Assembly. She is known for her strong ties to the ruling party and close connections with the private sector.

On the same day, 283 members of the National Assembly were also sworn in. However, opposition representation was limited, as major opposition groups—including supporters of Nobel laureate leader María Corina Machado—boycotted the session.
