Clear European Message on Greenland: Announcement of Limited Military Deployment

Washington (Monitoring Desk): Following statements by US President Donald Trump regarding Greenland, European countries have voiced support for Denmark’s sovereignty and announced a limited military deployment, a move being described as a significant development amid rising sensitivities in the region.

The deployment is taking place under NATO’s joint exercise Operation Arctic Endurance, which is being led by Denmark. However, the United States is not participating in the exercise. The step is widely seen as an expression of solidarity by European allies with Denmark.

According to reports, the United Kingdom has decided to send one military officer, the Netherlands one, while Finland, Norway, and Sweden will each deploy two military personnel to Greenland. In addition, France has deployed 15 troops and Germany 13, bringing the total number of European personnel—excluding Denmark—to around 37 participating in the exercise.

It is worth noting that Denmark has already stationed approximately 150 troops in Greenland, including the elite Sirius Dog Sled Patrol. Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Netherlands are part of the exercise, while Poland, Italy, and Türkiye have chosen not to contribute military personnel to the operation.
