Bangladesh Lodges Strong Protest Over Sheikh Hasina’s Speech in India

Dhaka (Monitoring Desk):Bangladesh has lodged a strong protest against India for allowing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to address a public gathering in New Delhi, calling the move an insult to the Bangladeshi people.

According to the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, granting such a platform to Sheikh Hasina, who has been convicted of crimes against humanity and is a fugitive, poses a serious threat to the country’s peace, security, and democratic process.

The Foreign Ministry stated that during the event held in New Delhi on January 23, Sheikh Hasina delivered an audio address in which she allegedly attempted to incite her supporters in Bangladesh against the current government and spoke about influencing the upcoming general elections.

The statement further said that repeated provocative remarks by the leadership of the Awami League forced the interim government to impose restrictions on their political activities in order to maintain stability.
