Dhaka (Monitoring Desk): In view of the ongoing tensions with India, Bangladesh’s interim government has further tightened its visa policy for Indian citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that, due to security concerns, activities of visa sections at Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in India have been restricted.
According to government officials, the new directives have taken effect immediately. Under these measures, all categories of visas — except business and employment-related visas — have been temporarily suspended.
Officials said the decision has been taken in consideration of the security situation and diplomatic developments, adding that any future changes in the policy will depend on regional conditions and bilateral consultations.
Analysts believe the move may impact travel and trade ties between the two countries. However, the Bangladeshi government maintains that the safety of its citizens and diplomatic staff remains its top priority.
