Australia Labels India as “Highest Risk” for Student Visas

Sydney (Monitoring Desk): Australia has tightened student visa regulations for Indian nationals, placing India in the “Highest Risk” category, alongside Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.

According to Australian and Indian media reports, the decision was made outside the usual schedule, with officials citing “new integrity concerns” within the visa system as the reason.

The Times of India reported that although Australian authorities did not provide specific reasons for India’s inclusion in this category, the move comes after multiple cases of fake degrees and fraudulent educational documents surfaced.

As a result, obtaining a student visa for Australia will now become more challenging and time-consuming for Indian students, while universities and educational institutions will evaluate applications under stricter rules and regulations.
