Washington/Minneapolis (Monitoring Desk): An incident occurred during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Democratic Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was targeted after a foul-smelling liquid was thrown at her while she was addressing the audience.
According to initial reports, Ilhan Omar suffered no physical injuries in the incident. Security personnel present at the venue responded swiftly and reportedly detained a white male suspect, while an investigation into the matter has been launched.
At the time of the incident, Ilhan Omar was calling for the resignation or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. During her address, she also voiced serious concerns over recent developments related to immigration and national security.
US media reports state that allegations of spreading misleading information involving Kristi Noem and former President Donald Trump’s adviser Stephen Miller are currently under discussion. The controversy is reportedly linked to a protest that took place in Minnesota.
According to reports, during the said protest, ICE officers opened fire on an individual, initially claiming that the person was armed. However, later information revealed that the individual was unarmed and had already been restrained before the shooting.
