Afridi Demands Senior Players Be Dropped After Pakistan’s Defeat

Lahore (Sports Desk): Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has strongly criticized the national team’s performance following their defeat against India in the T20 World Cup 2026, calling for senior players to be sidelined and new talent to be given a chance.

In the round match, India easily chased down Pakistan’s target of 176 runs, exposing the failure of both fast bowlers and spinners. The batting line-up also struggled, with only Usman Khan lasting on the crease for a significant time, while seven players combined to score just 20 runs.

Speaking on a private TV show, Shahid Afridi emphasized the need for fresh blood in the national team to improve future performances and meet fans’ expectations. He stated that senior players have lost their edge and the team should be strengthened with energetic new players.
