The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced Zardari as the victor in the presidential polls garnering 411 votes

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the winner of the presidential election, securing 411 votes against his opponent PkMAP Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, who only received 181 votes.

According to a statement released by the electoral authority on behalf of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the presidential polls were conducted in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and Islamabad. The results from all five locations were received at the ECP secretariat.

“The total electoral college comprised 1,185 seats, with 92 vacant. This left 1,093 eligible voters to cast their ballots,” the ECP stated. Of the total votes cast, 1,044 were valid, with nine being declared invalid, resulting in a total of 1,035 valid votes.

The ECP indicated that the official Result of Count on Form-VII will be prepared and submitted to the federal government the following day, upon receiving the original records from the presiding officers.
