US to Provide Major Loan to Pakistan for Reko Diq Project

Washington (Commerce Desk): The United States has approved a loan of $1.3 billion for Pakistan’s key mineral project, Reko Diq, a move being described as a major development for the country’s economy.

A high-level meeting chaired by the US Secretary of State in Washington reviewed strategies to secure global supply chains for critical minerals. The meeting discussed alternative supply sources, the promotion of secure and reliable transport systems, and the development of advanced logistics networks.

On the sidelines of the same meeting, the United States approved a $1.3 billion loan for Pakistan’s Reko Diq project, which is being seen as an important step in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to reports, the loan will be provided under former US President Donald Trump’s WALL project initiative and will be disbursed through the US Export-Import Bank.
