Karachi (Showbiz Desk): Television host Rabia Anam has openly expressed her disagreement with a past statement made by senior actress Saba Faisal, saying she did not appreciate the actress’s views regarding daughters-in-law.
A few months ago, while speaking on a morning show, Saba Faisal had said that a newlywed bride should inform her mother-in-law or sister-in-law before going to sleep or taking rest at home. Her remarks quickly went viral on social media, where many users criticized the statement.
In a recent interview, Rabia Anam raised objections to the same viewpoint without directly naming Saba Faisal. She said that in one program it was suggested that if a daughter-in-law wishes to rest for a while, she should seek permission from her mother-in-law — questioning the need for such a practice.
Rabia Anam added that she herself is a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law has never had such expectations from her. According to her, it is inappropriate for anyone to be required to explain personal matters in this manner.
She further stated that every individual has the right to live their life in their own way and that promoting such traditions is not appropriate. She remarked that such ideas are often repeated due to years of influence from Indian dramas and culture, whereas every society has its own values and one should speak thoughtfully.
On the other hand, Saba Faisal also responded by sharing Rabia Anam’s video clip on social media, writing that some people participate in such discussions to appear wise and gain temporary attention.
