Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Under the government’s economic reform strategy, organized steps are ongoing to effectively privatize national institutions.
According to Advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Shahzad, the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is a historic and significant move that has revitalized the institution, with further improvements expected in the coming days.
He added that investment in power distribution companies will enhance the electricity sector, while after Islamabad Airport, other airports in the country will also be outsourced.
Khurram Shahzad stated that alongside airports, hotels and banks are also part of the privatization program. The 249th meeting of the Privatization Commission was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Privatization Commission.
The Finance Minister’s advisor further mentioned that the recommendation to include FFC in the consortium purchasing PIA has been sent to the Cabinet Committee on Privatization for final approval. The Privatization Commission Board has endorsed the inclusion of FFC in the consortium after confirming that it meets all legal requirements.
