Karachi (Showbiz Desk): World-renowned comedian Hanif Raja recently stated that even after traveling to many countries, places like Dubai and Sharjah feel to him as familiar as the local neighborhoods of Landhi or Korangi.
In an interview with a private newspaper’s digital platform, he also spoke openly about the ups and downs of his career. Hanif Raja revealed that he began by writing sketches for digests and even worked at a digest office at one point.
He said that his fame and popularity grew when he performed stand-up comedy at wedding events. He credited Farid Khan for guiding him toward commercial shows, which later opened doors to stage dramas.
Raja described working with Moin Akhtar and Umer Sharif as an honor. According to him, Umer Sharif was a great man who understood others’ struggles, while Moin Akhtar included him in his team, helping him gain international recognition.
He also noted that he rose to fame in the 1990s through dramas by Zulqarnain Haider, which featured artists like Liaquat Soldier, Shehzad Raza, and Ali Ejaz.
