Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Disney animator, director, and storyteller Roger Allers has passed away at the age of 76, leaving the global animation industry mourning a creator whose work shaped the childhood memories of millions.
Allers played a key role in creating timeless films such as The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. His death was confirmed by his close associate and producer Dave Bossert, who shared that he had been in email contact with Allers just days ago during a trip to Egypt, making the news even more shocking.
Bossert described Allers as a cornerstone of Disney Animation’s golden era. Allers began his career in 1982 as a storyboard artist for the film Tron, later working on Oliver & Company and The Little Mermaid, and eventually serving as Head of Story for Beauty and the Beast. His co-direction of The Lion King in 1994 brought him international acclaim.
Colleagues remember Allers for his humility, kindness, and cheerful personality, in addition to his immense creative talent.
