Karachi (Commerce Desk):Effective customs enforcement and wide-ranging reform measures have led to a notable increase in the legal import of petroleum products, textiles, and tyres, officials said.
Member Customs Operations at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Syed Shakeel Shah, stated that under the FBR’s Transformation Plan, customs infrastructure, transparency, and digital systems have been significantly strengthened, yielding positive results.
Speaking at a World Customs Day ceremony held at Customs House Karachi, he explained that the implementation of the Faceless Assessment System has reduced clearance delays and greatly improved transparency.
He added that through digital enforcement systems and other modern initiatives, effective measures are being taken to curb smuggling, while Pakistan Customs is adopting advanced technology in line with international standards.
Syed Shakeel Shah further noted that initiatives such as the Pakistan Single Window and the faceless system have brought marked improvements in customs operations, ultimately promoting legal trade and economic activity.
