Israeli strike near Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital kills 50 palestinians

Nearly 50 Palestinians were killed on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a building near Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, including three medical staff members.

“There are nearly 50 martyrs, including three of our medical staff, under the rubble of a building opposite Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Beit Lahia Project area after it was bombed by Israeli warplanes,” stated Hussam Abu Safia, the hospital director.

He explained that the medical staff and workers were present in the building because they were staying there with their families. The identified victims include Ahmed Samour, a pediatrician; Israa, a laboratory technician; and Fares, a hospital maintenance technician.

Israel initiated a major ground offensive in northern Gaza on Oct. 5, claiming it aimed to prevent Hamas from regrouping. Palestinians, however, accuse Israel of attempting to occupy the area and forcibly displace its residents. Since the offensive began, humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, and fuel, has been largely blocked, pushing the remaining population to the brink of famine.

Since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, cross-border attack, Israeli actions in Gaza have resulted in over 45,000 deaths and widespread destruction across the enclave.

In response to these events, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last month for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the territory.
