Punjab Police has finalized an extensive security plan to ensure the safety of citizens during the upcoming celebrations of Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day, both falling on December 25.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Police confirmed that over 30,000 officers will be deployed across the province, with more than 5,000 stationed in Lahore alone to provide enhanced security at churches, ensuring the safety of worshippers during the holiday season. In addition, 1,000 officers will be dedicated to overseeing security for events marking the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The police will operate at a high-alert status to prevent any potential incidents and ensure a peaceful celebration of both occasions.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab has instructed additional forces to be stationed at sensitive churches and advised officers to remain vigilant for any threats, particularly those posed by anti-state elements. Police officials will also maintain close coordination with church administrations to ensure smooth security measures are in place.
The IG emphasized the importance of promoting interfaith harmony and unity, urging religious leaders from all communities to work towards maintaining peace and fostering a spirit of cooperation during the Christmas festivities.
In Pakistan, December 25 holds dual significance, being a public holiday to honor both Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s birth anniversary and Christmas. Quaid-e-Azam Day, or Yom-e-Quaid, is marked with national ceremonies and events that celebrate Jinnah’s leadership and vision in founding the country.
With the implementation of this comprehensive security plan, Punjab Police aims to ensure the peaceful observance of both important events, ensuring public safety and harmony across the province.
